Installation

The Showstopper 4 Accessory Hub is a 2U tall device which can be mounted in any standard 19” equipment rack. If you don’t have a rack, it can also sit on a desk or on top of a Stagehand Controller - just be sure it is secured.

Making the Connections

The Showstopper 4 Accessory Hub will need to be connected to your Showstopper system before it can be used as intended, as it will not function on its own. It must be connected to a Showstopper 4 Base, along with a few other connections as explained below.

Input Power

Connect the IEC power cable to the back of the Showstopper 4 Accessory Hub and plug into any standard 120VAC power source. The power connection must be constant. Loss of power to the Showstopper 4 Accessory Hub will engage the E-Stop and stop all movement to any Stagehands in the system. We recommend adding in a Battery Backup to avoid issues in the case of a power loss.

Ethernet

The Showstopper 4 Accessory Hub includes an Ethernet connection in order to communicate E-Stop status to Spikemark. The Ethernet connection will accept a Neutrik Ethercon connector (#NE8MC-B) or any standard RJ45 connector.

Showstopper Accessory Connections

The Showstopper 4 Accessory Hub has both Accessory input (1) and Accessory output (6) connections.

The cable must have at least 6 twisted pairs (12 conductors) of 20AWG (20/6 STP). Here are a few purchasing options:

The Showstopper 4 Accessory output provides dual channel E-Stop signals, CAN Bus (E-Stop Status) communication, and +24VDC power for the Showstopper Consolette and Pendant. All of these signals are combined into a single 21mm x 21mm (3A) 12 pin locking connector. There are several manufacturers of these types of connectors, our favorite is from MENCOM. The inserts are the CQF-12 (for the receptacle - output) and CQM-12 (for the plug - input).

Showstopper 4 Accessories can be daisy-chained from a single Accessory output as required. For instance, Remote E-Stops could be daisy-chained from one output while another output could have a Showstopper 4 E-Stop hub and the 3rd output could have a Showstopper 4 Consolette. It is important to note: each Accessory output must be terminated at the end of the run in order for the Showstopper 4 system to function properly.

The Showstopper 4 Accessory input connects the Accessory Hub to any upstream Showstopper 4 device, namely the Showstopper 4 Base which is integral to the function of the Accessory Hub. The input connections include dual channel E-Stop signals, CAN Bus (E-Stop Status) communication, and +24VDC power. All of these signals are combined into a single 21mm x 21mm (3A) 12 pin locking connector. There are several manufacturers of these types of connectors, our favorite is from MENCOM. The inserts are the CQM-12 (for the receptacle - input) and CQF-12 (for the plug - output).
