# X-Groove Override

Where can you jump the signal?

The ideal location is to jump out the signal from the **machine** that does not include cross groove detection. This way the Stagehand can still function correctly with other machines that *do* have cross groove detection without having to alter the Stagehand every time.

If you do not have access to the machine for whatever reason, or you would prefer not to alter the machine, you can jump the signal from the Stagehand.

{% hint style="danger" %}
**IF YOU JUMP INSIDE THE STAGEHAND OR SIGNAL CABLE**

... even machines **with** cross groove detection **WILL NOT** register a cross groove condition.
{% endhint %}

## Jump from the Machine Signal Circuit Board

#### Devices

* Spotline
* Pushstick v2
* Floorpocket

#### Location

Machine junction box, behind the signal plug

#### What to Jump

X2 RJ45 socket on the signal PCB

* Pin 3: Groove Signal (looking for +24vdc to clear X-Groove)
* Pin 4: Load Cell +24vdc

#### How to Jump

* [ ] Crimp an RJ45 plug that has a wire going from pin 3 to pin 4.
* [ ] Insert the crimped RJ45 into the X2 terminal on the card

## Jump from the Machine Signal IRC Pins

#### Devices

* Revolver v2 and v3

#### Location

* Machine junction box or plate, just behind the signal plug

#### What to Jump

* Pin 9: X-Groove Signal (looking for +24vdc to clear X-Groove)
* Pin 11: Load Cell +24vdc

<figure><img src="https://3040525219-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-MhFI6SSKpm8M7EkrYqp%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-4f334df6d5bfb3b30ab86e2febfe42feacef5bb7%2Fimage.png?alt=media" alt="" width="188"><figcaption><p>24p IRC Signal Insert (sockets shown; machine has PINS)</p></figcaption></figure>

#### How to Jump

* [ ] Use 3" of 20awg wire and 20awg HAN D pins to create a jumper wire
* [ ] Remove the 24 pin IRC signal insert (4 phillips head screws on the inside of the bulkhead) and gently pull out from the bulkhead base to reveal the back side
* [ ] Locate pin 9 and insert one end of the jumper wire until it clicks into place
  * Use a small screw driver to gently press in as necessary. Pin should not be able to come back out when gently pressed from the front
* [ ] Locate pin 11 and insert the other end until it clicks into place as in the above step
* [ ] Replace the 24 pin IRC signal insert

## Jump from the Stagehand Signal Circuit Board

#### Devices

* Pro 5
* Pro 4
* Pro 3
* All Pro+ Upgrades
* Apprentice 1

#### Location

#### What to Jump

* Terminal 9: +24vdc
* Terminal 10: X-Groove Signal

<figure><img src="https://3040525219-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-MhFI6SSKpm8M7EkrYqp%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-ab4c8c67ea0792b92983066918720015b01d3654%2Fimage.png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption><p>Stagehand Signal Circuit Board</p></figcaption></figure>

#### How to Jump

* [ ] Cut 3" of 20awg wire and strip back approximately 3/8" from either side
* [ ] Twist each end tight
  * You can also terminate with a ferrule or tin with solder
* [ ] Remove the input power and E-stop to the Stagehand
* [ ] Remove the top cover of your Stagehand. Locate the Signal Circuit Board just behind the sensor input on the back panel
* [ ] Locate terminal 10 (far right side) and press and hold the switch down with a small, slotted screwdriver to insert one end of the jumper wire
  * Give it a light pull to verify that it is secure
* [ ] Locate terminal 9 (immediately to the left of 10) and insert into the terminal using the above method

## Jump from the Signal Cable or Squid IRC Socket

#### Devices

* Apprentice 2

#### Location

* Pin side of the signal cable or breakout squid going between the Stagehand and the machine

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Be sure to indicate on the cable that cross groove detection is being disabled.**

Even machines **with** cross groove detection **WILL NOT** register a cross groove condition.
{% endhint %}
