Operation

Connect your Showstopper 4 E-Stop Hub to your Showstopper 4 Base with an Accessory cable from the Accessory Output of the Showstopper 4 Base to the Accessory Input of your Showstopper 4 E-Stop Hub.

Attach up to ten Stagehands with Showstopper cables (5-pin XLR) running between the E-Stop outputs on the Showstopper 4 E-Stop Hub and the Stagehands.

Confirm all Accessory outputs are terminated, either by connecting an Accessory cable to another device and/or connecting the Showstopper 4 Accessory Terminators.

Release any E-Stop mushroom buttons in the system, and you are ready to Make It Move!

SYSTEM STATUS

Showstopper 4 status is displayed on the OLED and through the three indicator lights on the faceplate of the Showstopper 4 E-Stop Hub.

Indicator Lights

The Amber system power light, the Green system ready light, and the illuminated E-Stop button quickly show the operator what is happening. For reference, use the chart below:

OLED Screen

The OLED screen will display the status of any connected Accessory or Remote E-Stop button. For instance, if a Remote E-Stop button is activated, the OLED will display the node number(s) activated and the Amber indicator will be illuminated.

In order to see the status of any connected E-Stop button, each device will need to be configured properly and set up in Spikemark.

E-Stop ID Configuration

If you have a large Showstopper system spread across multiple floors, or you just want to geek out a bit, you can set specific IDs for each E-Stop Button on each Showstopper in the system in order to see which one is engaged from the status displays on the Showstopper 4 Base, other Showstopper devices, or in Spikemark.

In order to take advantage of seeing the E-stop statuses in Spikemark, you will need to:

  1. Set the IP Address on the Showstopper 4 Base to communicate with Spikemark

  2. Set the E-Stop ID to create a unique id for each E-Stop button in your System

Setting the IP Address

Like all devices on the Spikemark network, the Showstopper 4 Base needs to be assigned a unique static IP Address. The default IP Address for the Showstopper 4 Base is 192.168.10.235 as it fits in with the default network address range of 192.168.10.xxx. If your network is configured differently you will need to change the IP Address of the Showstopper 4 Base.

To set the IP address your Showstopper 4 Base:

  • Press the knob to open the Showstopper configuration menu.

  • The knob serves double-duty as a typical rotary knob and a button (much like a car stereo knob).

  • There is a blinking cursor on the display, and turning the knob will scroll the cursor through the various fields.

  • Turn the knob and scroll the cursor over to the last segment of the IP address, which is 235 by default.

  • Press the knob to select the last segment and make it adjustable.

  • Turn the knob to set a new value.

  • Once you are satisfied with the new value, press the knob again to accept the value.

  • Scroll the cursor over to the OK and press the knob to set the new address and return to the primary display screen. If you want to cancel the changes you made to the IP address, scroll the cursor over to the CANCEL and press the knob.

Setting the E-Stop Node ID

We now need to make an important distinction here. The IP Address is not the identifier for the E-Stop Button on the Showstopper 4 E-Stop Hub. The identifier for the E-Stop Button is called the E-Stop ID (Node). Each Showstopper 4 device needs a unique E-Stop ID from 0-127. This means the maximum number of addressable E-Stop buttons in any system is 128.

To set your E-Stop ID on your Showstopper 4 E-Stop Hub:

  • Press the knob to open the Showstopper configuration menu.

  • Turn the knob and scroll the cursor to highlight the NEW ID number and press the knob to select the field.

  • Turn the knob to set the new ID and press the knob again to accept the new value.

  • Scroll the cursor over to the OK and press the knob to set the new E-Stop ID, and return to the primary screen display.

  • If you want to cancel the changes you made to the E-Stop ID, scroll the cursor over to the CANCEL and press the knob
