# Using Spikemark Vantis

Before you can move machines, it's important to understand the Spikemark Vantis touchscreen interface and how to navigate it.

## Authentification

Spikemark Vantis offers a powerful authentication and authorization system that is fully managed within Spikemark through users, permissions, and roles.

To get started, refer to [User Authentication and Authorization](https://github.com/creativeconners/PublicDocumentation/tree/main/spikemark/groups.md).

Once users, permissions, and roles are configured and Authentication and Authorization are enabled in Spikemark, the following login prompt will appear on Spikemark Vantis at startup:

Authorization and Authentification will be required at every start up until disabled in **Spikemark**.

## Spikemark Vantis User Interface

1. **Motion Header**\
   The Motion Header provides a quick visual indication of system status.\
   a) **Green** / **Running** displays while the selected machine(s) or group(s) are in motion. For targeted movements such as [Move To Position (MTP)](https://docs.creativeconners.com/docs/showstopper/spikemark-vantis/pages/PztNiUnIlbaY3nF4M7zg#jog-workspace#move-to-position), [Spike](https://docs.creativeconners.com/docs/showstopper/spikemark-vantis/pages/PztNiUnIlbaY3nF4M7zg#jog-workspace#spikes) or [Preset](/docs/showstopper/spikemark-vantis/5-preset-workspace.md#preset-workspace), the header also displays the estimated move time.\
   b) **Red** / **Loaded** indicates a programmed movement has been loaded and is ready to run.\
   c) **Yellow** indicates a programmed movement has faulted or is experiencing a soft stop.\
   d) **Blue** / **Completed** indicates a programmed movement has completed successfully.
2. **Stagehand Card**\
   Represents an individual motor or group that displays as follows:

   a) **Name** – Displays the name of the motor or group.\
   b) [**Multi-Select**](https://docs.creativeconners.com/docs/showstopper/spikemark-vantis/pages/PztNiUnIlbaY3nF4M7zg#jog-workspace#multi-selection) **Bubble** – Indicates whether the motor or group has been selected as part of a multi-selection.\
   c) **Stage Color** – Provides a quick visual status indication and mirrors the color displayed in the **Motion Header**\
   d) **Limit Indicator** – Displays **Green** when the motor is operating within its limits and **Yellow** when a limit has been reached.\
   e) **Current Position** – Displays the current position of the motor or group.\
   f) [**Load Alarm**](/docs/showstopper/spikemark-vantis/6-motor-and-group-details.md#motor-and-group-details) **Toggle** – Indicates load alarm status when a load cell is present.\
   g) **Load Cell Measurement** – Displays the current load measurement when a load cell is present.
3. **Spikes Bar**\
   Provides access to saved [Spikes](https://docs.creativeconners.com/docs/showstopper/spikemark-vantis/pages/PztNiUnIlbaY3nF4M7zg#jog-workspace#spikes), allows new spikes to be created, and provides access to [Move-To-Position (MTP)](https://docs.creativeconners.com/docs/showstopper/spikemark-vantis/pages/PztNiUnIlbaY3nF4M7zg#jog-workspace#move-to-position) functionality and displays as follows:

   b) [**Move-To-Position (MTP)**](https://docs.creativeconners.com/docs/showstopper/spikemark-vantis/pages/PztNiUnIlbaY3nF4M7zg#jog-workspace#move-to-position) - Opens the Move-To-Position display for creating and executing a one-time targeted move using the selected machines.\
   c) [**Load Spike**](https://docs.creativeconners.com/docs/showstopper/spikemark-vantis/pages/PztNiUnIlbaY3nF4M7zg#jog-workspace#MovetoaSpike) - Loads the selected spike and prepares it for execution.\
   d) **Spike Name** – Displays the name of the **Spike**\
   e) **Spike Position** - Displays the saved target position associated with the spike.\
   f) [**Add Spike**](https://docs.creativeconners.com/docs/showstopper/spikemark-vantis/pages/PztNiUnIlbaY3nF4M7zg#jog-workspace#AddSpike) – Creates a new spike using the current positions of the selected machines.
4. **Stagehand Axis Dashboard**\
   Displays all selected **Stagehand Cards**, indicating the machines or groups that are currently available for movement.
5. **Stagehand Axis List** Displays all available **Stagehand Cards**. When a card is selected and added to the dashboard, it will retain a **Blue** border to indicate it is selected.

With the interface covered, you're ready to begin operating machines using Spikemark Vantis.
